“Christmas time mistletoe and wine….” the most magical time of the year has arrived.
The time to dust off that Christmas Michael Buble festive album, the season of turkey, Christmas carols, and the time for all those family traditions; like watching ‘A Christmas Carol’ on Christmas Eve; Charles Dickens’ thrilling adventure to the past, present and future (one of my favourites)!
I thought I would take you on a Christmas journey with this festive edition of Craig’s Corner.

The Museums ‘Rooms through Time’ will be dressed to show how people have celebrated Christmas and other winter events in their home over the past 400 years.
From the Midwinter festival to the Millennium party, it explores how and why homes were decorated and winter events celebrated.
Find out where Boxing Day got its name from and why the Christmas tree first appeared in our homes. As well as the Rooms through Time, there will be a rainbow of Christmas colour across the Museum site.
Christmas at the Tower of London

Discover the iconic history of the Tower of London this Christmas through the animals that once lived within these walls, with a magical, festive experience for all the family.

The Postal Museum

It’s the perfect time to visit The Postal Museum with the Mail Rail ride getting a festive makeover, you can explore a new display of magical letters exchanged between children and Santa since 1964 and see the world's first Christmas card for a limited time only. An added bonus is that the Charles Dickens Museum is only 3 mins walk away.

A Christmas Carol in the Painted Hall

There’s very few more stunning venues to see this spooky festive tale brought to life than in the incredible surroundings of the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. This vibrant new adaptation is great fun for all the family with original songs and music performed live by a cast of talented actor-musicians.
Globe Theatre, Southbank

The Globe Theatre returns to its roots for a magical re-imagining and re-wilding of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Fir Tree – the story of Christmas told from the perspective of the tree.
‘What are they doing? Why are they doing it? What will happen next?’ asked the Tree.
Bring friends, family, partners, neighbours and with a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine in hand, join them under the wintry star-lit sky in the glorious wooden ‘O’ for a fireside dose of story, song, candlelight, and hope.
The Gingerbread City

The Museum of Architecture’s Gingerbread City returns this December showcasing great design and baking minds. An utterly charming – and edible – exhibition for adults and children, this year’s fantastical city explores the theme of nature in the city which asked the architects, engineers and designers who created the city explore ways of bringing in green space and nature into our urban jungles. There’s also gingerbread house-making workshops you can do with the family or your friends.

London's New Year's Day Parade 2022
The highlight of the New Year’s Day celebrations in London is the New Year’s Day Parade. It usually sees more than 10,000 dancers, acrobats, musicians and performers fill the parade route and hundreds of thousands of spectator’s line the streets.
And all that remains on this festive journey is to wish you and yours a happy and peaceful festive season!
