Named after Mr J Hudson, the first Chairman of The Farmers Club, who chaired the first General Meeting on 9th December 1842. He was instrumental in the change of tenants rights in 1846 that promoted the interest of both landlord and tenant in the advancement of practical agriculture. It ultimately led to significant improvements for English farming and altered the whole status of the English farmer for the better.
