ABP Ellesmere is a highly sustainable, award-winning beef processing facility in Shropshire, UK, recognized as the world's first carbon-neutral beef processing plant. Following a £40 million investment, it operates as a "triple zero" site (zero waste to landfill, zero net carbon, zero net water usage).
The facility serves as a flagship for sustainable food manufacturing, utilizing a combined heat & power (CHP) engine, rainwater harvesting, a water treatment plant, and sustainable materials.
It serves as a fully integrated beef processing site, handling both slaughter and packing, and is recognized for incorporating high animal welfare standards, including Dr. Temple Grandin’s welfare practices.
The plant employs technology allowing carcasses to be DNA tested, enabling consumers to trace their meat back to the specific farm of origin.
It supplies beef products, including, but not limited to, burgers and mince, to various retail and food service clients.
